Ummmm

So I guess I fail at that whole "post everyday" thing haha.

Here's a little tidbit about dorm life:
Once a week, the various HMC dorms (North, South, East, West, Atwood, Case, Linde, and Sontag) have a dorm barbecue (different dorms can have it on different days). For the barbecue, the dorms get grills, charcoal, lighter fluid, patties, buns, quesadillas, etc. for the dorm residents to make burgers and other food with.

West (the dorm that I live in), has their dorm bbq every Sunday. It's a good way to hang out with other people in the dorm and you get some good, not-dining-hall food (I've made some delicious burgers at dorm barbecue).

If you don't know how to flip a burger, you'll soon find out how.

Are there vegetarian options available at these grilling opportunities?

What's the campus climate about eating animals?

Indeed there are. In additional to beef patties, there are veggieburgers and quesadillas you can put on the grill. Fruit, chips, and lemonade are also usually provided.

The various dining halls across the 5 Claremont colleges all have vegetarian/vegan options everyday. Specifically, at Mudd's dining hall, there is a section with vegetarian options for every meal. Is this what you mean about "the campus climate about eating animals"? I can get more details if you'd like them. I have friends who are vegetarian/vegan.

(I thought I'd offer my perspective on this, since I'm a vegetarian myself.)

There's veggieburgers and quesidillas at every grilling event at the dorms. The Mudd dining hall has vegetarian food at every meal, and most of it is quite tasty (for college food). The Pitzer cafeteria seems to cater to vegans and vegetarians--when I go there, about half of their food contains no animal products whatsoever. (Because of the way that the Claremont colleges run their dining halls, students can eat any meal at any dining hall without paying extra.)

As for the campus climate regarding vegetarianism, I've found that Mudders are nonjudgmental about what you eat. No one will try to force you to eat meat, and no one will try to force you to become vegetarian.

You definitely get a chance to hang out with everyone at Mudd. This can happen in all types of places. It can happen in a study session for a physics test, it can happen at a party, it can happen at the dining hall. I know that some colleges have their dorms such that all meals are served within dorms and all activities occur within a particular dorm. This is definitely not the case at Mudd, though it's not uncommon for people within a dorm to hang out with each other more than they hang out with people outside of their dorm.

And yes, I'm enjoying college life but, to be frank, school can sometimes REALLY SUCK. More on that later.
